1. Typing text:
a. Word Wrap: Do not press
the enter key at the end of a line. The word processor automatically wraps
text
from one line to the next line.
b. Hard return: A hard return
is created by the user when he or she presses the enter key at the end
of a
paragraph.
c. Soft return: a soft return
is created by the word processor as it wraps text from one line to the
next line.
2. Clipboard concept:
a. A clipboard is a part
of memory used to hold some text temporarily.
b. After you select some
text, you may choose COPY or CUT commands to send text to clipboard. The
COPY command will duplicate a copy of text to the clipboard whereas
the CUT command will send text to the
clipboard and erase from current work sheet.
c. When a clipboard holds
any information, you can paste it to anywhere else even in the different
documents.
d. Some word processors
let the clipboard hold information until new one coming. Others may erase
it once
you paste to somewhere.
3. Checking spelling:
a. Type the following paragraph
to learn the way to check your spelling:
A spelling checker will catch embarassing mistakes, iRegular capitalization,
and duplicate words
words.
b. Use right click to get
suggestion and correct them.
c. Type the following paragraph
to learn the way to check your spelling.
It will also flag proper nouns, for example, Robert Grauer, but you can
add these terms to an auxiliary
dictionary so that they will not be flagged in the future.
d. AutoCorrect Example:
Use LOC to type LeMoyne-Owen College.
1. Goto Tools|AutoCorrect...
2. Make sure you are on the AutoCorrect tab.
3. In the middle of the box, there should be two white boxes. Type
LOC in the Replace box and
LeMoyne-Owen College in the With box.
4. Click the Add button.
5. Click the OK button.
Now, whenever you type the word LOC, the word processor will automatically
change it to
LeMoyne-Owen College.
